I recently had the opportunity to fly to Scottsdale, AZ and work with Sarah Lyons of PictureGroove. Sarah is an amazing photographer with an eye for detail. Prior to my arrival in Scottsdale Sarah and I had only spoken a couple of times on the phone about what I thought the layout should be. I sent her some of my other photos and she looked at my website and then we came up with a game plan. We met for dinner the day I arrived and I can honestly say it was like we had known each other forever. Sarah and I were on the same page about everything and she had it all planned out. The location we shot at was absolutely beautiful and I can’t wait for everyone to see the finished products.
Sarah is a former Fitness Model who started www.picturegroove.comabout 3 years ago. When the economy started to go on the down slope, Sarah put her real estate career to the side, and went full force in to photography. Sarah said, “I have learned so much along the way, and I continue to learn every day.”
Sarah plans each shoot on an individual basis, whether it be a road-trip travel shoot that she does in LA or Las Vegas every other month, or a top-notch major production that is held at one of the many mega-mansions at her disposal in beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona. Her real estate background really pays off when she works with a model, paying meticulous attention to detail and service.
Having modeled in the past, Sarah realizes how important it is for a model to feel safe and secure with a photographer, especially when the model is making an investment in her portfolio. Sarah said she used to go on shoots back in the late ’90′s and feel so unprepared, and sometimes models need reassurance from their photographers. In going forward with a full-time photography career, she wants to make sure that anyone she works with fell beautiful, confident, and prepared, leaving no stone un-turned.
Sarah realizes the importance of getting to know the model first. If Sarah is working with a local model, there are NO shortage of meetings before the shoot. There are lunches, coffee meetings, etc. to review the model’s wants and desires for her shoot. If the model is from another state or country, there are several phone meetings and photos swapped via the internet to insure that the communication between Sarah and her model is on-track.
